Here we have an absolutely scintillating antique Victorian pendant. Crafted in rich rose gold, showcasing decorative black onyx pieces and sweet seed pearls. Fine milgrain edging is seen around each stone and pearl, finished them off in such an eye-catching way. A tremendous amount of detail was put into this Victorian treasure. During the late Victorian era black onyx was frequently used in mourning jewelry. In 1861 when Prince Albert died, Queen Victoria went into official mourning for the remainder of her years which was until her death in 1901. Because of her popularity with her royal subjects, she had great influence on fashion and jewelry, thus inspiring alluring designs for years in black materials such as onyx. The pendant you see here today began its early life as a brooch, but we have reimagined it into a gorgeous pendant, making it so much more wearable in today's world.
